Welcome
to the website for Hobie Fleet 276, the Southeast Michigan sailing associate of
the North American Hobie Class Association! We are about to enter our third year
as a fleet, and are thrilled to be
a part of a resurgence in Hobie sailing here in Division 10. Nothing
compares to spending a day out on the water with a bunch of other Hobie sailors!
Fleet
membership has many benefits, but the most important are: sailing
and socializing. Fleet 276 sails together in local fun sail events, Division 10 events (MI, IL, IN, and OH), as well as many
Division 16 events (Ontario and Northwest NY). These events consist of
everything from day trips out to Gull Island, with picnics on this bit of
paradise in Lake St. Clair, to top-notch regattas with some of the best sailors
in the U.S!
More
importantly, being a member of Fleet 276 allows you to socialize with some of
the friendliest people that you will ever meet! We share the same enthusiasm for
Hobie sailing that you do. In the 1970’s, people spoke of the “Hobie
Way of Life.” We have recaptured that feeling and share it with one
another, on and off the water. Our off seasons are filled with social events
like bowling and skiing and during the season we get together during the week to
share sailing stories at a local restaurant.
I
encourage you to take a look at some of our events for 2007. Read some of the
stories from past events, and enjoy the photographs that
capture the beauty of Hobie sailing. Circle a couple of dates on the 2007
schedule and plan on throwing your boat on the trailer. Make an effort to come
out and sail with us. It will only take one day for you to understand or
remember what the “Hobie Way of Life”
is all about!
See
you on the beach!
